Display Wizard Support Defying Dementia Campaign

Display Wizard are delighted to announce their support of the Defying Dementia campaign based at Lancaster University.

Defying Dementia is a community-supported campaign aiming to tackle the devasting effects of Alzheimer’s Disease, the most common form of dementia. As the country’s population is ageing as well as growing, more and more people are being diagnosed with the disease, which severely affects memory and personality as well as physical abilities.

This destructive disease can cause huge difficulties in family relationships and is estimated to be present in around 1 in 3 people by the end of their life, showing how far-reaching this condition is.Defying Dementia are dedicated to researching the viability a drug to slow down the progression and ultimately prevent the disease entirely and are currently working on pre-clinical trials. If these are successful, the drug will be passed on to clinical trials for testing and, hopefully, mass market availability.

Matthew and Katie, part of the Display Wizard marketing team, were lucky enough to be shown around the labs where this incredible research is taking place, where they witnessed an early-stage demonstration into how their drugs inhibited the spread of the disease in living cells.

After hearing about the campaign Display Wizard wanted to get involved and support it in our own small way. As the campaign relies on donations, every penny is extremely valuable to their research so we were happy to support them by donating a number of display stands for their fundraising events. We were happy to supply them with some roller banners and printed flags as an initial donation to raise awareness for their various events in the local area.

Diarmuid Beary one of the CEOs at Display Wizard, said of the campaign and Display Wizard’s support: “We are extremely happy to be able to support Defying Dementia with these display materials. Their work is truly amazing, and we wish them all the best with their continuing battle against the condition.”
